Gravel crunched lightly under the saluki's paws, grinding against Pandora's already broken claws. It had been a few days since the stray had eaten anything, and she was getting hungry, her stomach growling under her cream and gray pelt as her dark eyes looked around for any prey to hunt down. Movement in the grass a few yards ahead caught her attention, and she paused, watching the spot to see what it was.
A field mouse stepped out onto the gravel, looking at the canine for a moment before continuing on it's way, searching for food for itself. Slowly, Pandora stepped forward, her head lowering as she approached the rodent. She paused a short distance away, eyes locked on the mouse in front of her, as she pounced, jaws open, paws out to catch it.
Just before she landed, though, the small creature turned and ran, barely avoiding death as the femme snapped her jaws, taking in a mouthful of gravel instead of fur and bones. She growled at herself, sitting partially in the soft grass and wiping her muzzle with her paw. "So close... Stupid mouse..." She grumbled to herself, huffing lightly as she turned to look down the road once more, her mind wandering.

OOC~IC A dark, heavy figure padded quickly down the stone path, heavily furred paws barely making a noise as she strode across the loose stone. Her large body seemed to contrast greatly against the greens and ashen gray of her surroundings. The thought caused her head to lower slightly, she didn't want to be noticed by any humans if they were around. She'd only just crested the top of a small hill when she noticed another shape sitting at the edge of the grass further down the path. She could tell it was another dog, but was to far away to tell who they were, and if she knew them.
Wind ruffled her fur and carried her scent in the direction of the other dog. Amber eyes narrowed, there would be no way they couldn't have scented her by that time. Even though the other seemed to be looking in the opposite direction.
Kora lifted a paw to take a step forward, but paused. Maybe it would be better not to get to close, as the other dogs, or at least the large female she'd met at the river, wasn't any to pleasing to be around. Her ears twitched with aggravation as she retreated to her haunches, glancing behind her to make sure nothing was coming up the path.
She smelled it before she caught sight of it, the small red squirrel weaving it's way through the long grass, it's cheeks swollen with stored nuts and seeds. Kora wasn't hungry, so there was no need to hunt, but it seemed oblivious to her even though she sat only a few lengths away.

Pandora's mind slowly returned to the present, her nose picking up the scent of another dog. There was something strange about the scent though, and her dark eyes narrowed slightly as she thought, trying to place what was so different about the other canine. It took her a moment to realize that, mingling with the canine's scent, was another scent, a squirrel maybe?
She turned her head to look for the prey, as well as the canine, almost afraid of what the other dog would say or do if she were to take the prey before the other. Her dark eyes spotted the squirrel, weaving it's way through the grass, right next to the other dog. Were they even going to try to catch it? Weren't they hungry? She didn't dare to move, though, in case the canine before her were to make a delayed attack on the small creature.
Her eyes switched between the two for a few moments, watching as the potential prey came closer to her, watching the other to see what they would do to her. The squirrel stopped beside Pandora, her eyes lingering on the red fur for a second before she pounced, this time paws and teeth making contact with flesh and fur. A squeak sounded through the grass and down the road a short ways as she chomped down on it's throat and skull, crushing the bone.

OOC~IC The wolfdog stiffened with the sound of the squeak and looked over to see the slender canine's jaws closed around the prey's head. Her ears twitched and she relaxed again, continuing to stare down at the other dog, wondering if they were friendly or not. Her paws shifted, sending rocks scattering down the hill. Her attention drawn to them for a moment before she stood.
Amber eyes seemed to brighten slightly with the thought of someone nice to talk to, but it was a home she knew might not be realized. Slowly she padded downhill, towards the other dog, her nose drawing in the scent as she came close enough to tell that the other dog was smaller than herself, lean, and slender figured. Obviously female. She kept her distance though, looking her over for a moment before opening her mouth to speak. "Greetings." She said in a tone that didn't give away her gender. Then again it never did, nor did her scent.

The slender dog quickly chewed the small meal, swallowing it in just a few bites. She licked her maw as she sat up and the other dog came closer, larger than herself, though hard to tell if they were male or female. She sat still as she was spoken to, her long ears perking slightly at the other's voice, though it didn't give a hint as to the larger canine's gender, either.
"Hello." Her voice was soft as she kept her dark eyes on the other, fighting the urge to get up and run away. She wanted to meet at least one nice dog, and she knew it would be better if it were one that could help her if needed, and this one seemed to fit that description.
Her mind turned to the squirrel, and she scolded herself in her mind. "I-I'm sorry, d-did you want that squirrel?" She tried to keep her slightly matted ears from pushing back, hoping that she wouldn't anger the other for stealing their meal.

OOC~IC Kora stood looking at the other female. She seemed to be more cautious about speaking to others than herself, though... a bit more flighty. From that she could tell that there was no threat. Her head lowered slightly before she moved closer, her neck outstretched to sniff at the other dog before retreating to her haunches. She tried her best not to look threatening, though her wolf heritage seemed to make that practically impossible. "No." She said in a softer tone. "If I wanted it I could have easily gotten it when It passed."
The edges of her muzzle pulled into a kind smile. "So what brings someone like you out here? Surely a dog as pretty as you has humans out looking for her?" She asked, looking up and down the path for any sign of humans, though she didn't smell any. Again her gaze returned to the slender female, looking her over from nose to tail. She seemed a little thin, as if she hadn't eaten in a while. It was a good thing she HAD let that squirrel pass. 'poor thing' She thought silently to herself, her ears laying back slightly.

Pandora flinched slightly as she watched the other move closer, sniffing at her, her own nose taking in the scent coming off the larger canine. The smell coming off seemed like that of a male, as did the size and shape of the body, though it was almost impossible to tell. She seemed it safe to refer to him as a male, at least until she knew for sure.
She scoffed at the mention of humans, turning her gaze away for a moment as she thought of the car that took her mother's life. She looked back up to the male, an almost apologetic look on her face. "I'm sorry. I don't have humans, and I don't want any." She looked down the path and back to the larger male, her dark eyes focusing on his. "What about you?" It was unlikely that he had any humans, she knew, and she was thankful for it. They were vile creatures, most of the time unable to control themselves and their actions.

OOC~IC She tilted her head slightly to one side, then the other as she pondered the response, then shook her head. "Me? With humans? Are you mad? The'd rather shoot at me... or worse." She grunted, looking down the path that lead towards the city. She knew she'd never really want to go there, but sometimes they did have good food just laying in the street ready for the taking. "Such wasteful creatures humans." She laughed a little. "But who could complain when they provide enough food for themselves, and the dogs that live in their city."
It was true though that it was dangerous there. A shiver ran up her spine as a chilled breeze drove through her fur and reached her skin, sending it prickling. It was good that this dog was a rogue, as she herself was. "So what's your name?" She asked, lifting her head up a little in a friendly manner, her tail twitching back and forth behind her, scuffling across the gravel.

She smiled lightly at the male's reaction to her question, seeing it as a good reply, at least in her terms. His words sunk into her mind for a moment, as she turned to look towards the city. "Yes, they have good food, but they are terrible creatures." Her dark eyes turned back to the male, her own body shivering slightly at the breeze. It penetrated her fur much easier than his, though she was used to the feelings of the extreme temperatures by now.
Her ears perked up at his last question, her eyes locking with his for a moment before she answered. "Pandora. What's yours?" She eyed him curiously, hoping he wouldn't be too stubborn to give her his name. From what she had seen so far, though, he'd be more than willing to share it with her.
