Flint woke to an absurd kind of calmness in the air that morning. She opened her eyes and sat up, looking around. She had fallen asleep that night near the frozen river, but she had fallen asleep to a soft snow falling. Now the river and the ground (and Flint herself) were covered in snow, but it wasn't snowing anymore. But it's not the fact that the snow has stopped, that's normal. The Siberian Husky pup thought with a little groan of frustration. Why can't I figure it out?! She looked down at the snow and immediately had to look away. The snow was bright and shining. That was when she figured it out. "It's the sky! The sun!" Flint wailed outloud, her joy gushing like a waterfall. How glorious it was! The sky was clear, not a cloud in sight, and the sun was shining. Days like that were not unusual, but always amazing. It's those days that the air is so cold you can't breathe in without the mucus in your nose freezing to your nosehairs and making your nostrils stiff. It's those days when mothers bundle their children up only for their face to be frozen but their body to be sweating in the sunlight. Such odd weather, but I like it. The husky pup thought, bouncing around in the snow.[/color]

Hidy heard a dog at the river and jumped a little. She headed towards the river, trotting happily, the sun shining on her fur. She walked up to the husky. "Hi, I am Hidy." She nodded and tilted her head, waiting for a response from the siberian husky. She could feel the heat, and she liked it, she started to pant slightly.

Flint was startled at first, and she jumped back, letting out a yip of terror. But then she noticed the dog was being friendly. With a superior and a bit comical voice Flint sat down and said, "I figured out about the sky first." There was a hint of hostility in her voice as well, for after the native man died she took to living on her own and fending for herself, which meant never trusting anyone fully. The husky pup sat there, a few paces away from Hidy with a bit of a conceited smirk on her muzzle.

Hidy tilted her head. "Oh, you mean the sun, you saw it first." Hidy smiled her great big bernese mountain dog smile. "This is different weather for winter." She smiled again."What's your name?" Hidy tilted her head, she was panting harder now, her black fur made the sun seem alot hotter, especially since it was long too.

Flint tilted her head. She looked at the big fluffy dog, seeming to judge if she should answer this dog. The pup, for she was only a mere Siberian Husky pup, tilted her head. She's a big dog. But she seems kindly. Flint thought. She took a long deep breath and then sighed. "Well," she started, "Are you sure you want to know all of them?" The husky's beautiful eyes shone, the blue one with icy ferocity and the brown one with a glowing and growing interest in Hidy.

Hidy had a confused expression on her face. "All of them? Shure." She smiled and headed under one of the trees, she was over heating. "I kind of miss the snow." She meant to think this, but she said it alowed.

Flint followed her and sat cautiously right outside from under the pine tree, peering under it at the big dog. I'm surprised she can fit under there, she's so big. Flint thought to herself, sitting down in the snow. She sank in about two inches, for the snow was that kind of packing snow, good for snowballs but a tad icy when made too big. "The snow is still here. And there isn't anything to miss. This is a glorious day! It never happens!" The pup wailed, then she realized Hidy had replied. "Oh, my names. Well the one that's mine by my choseing and my parent's is Flint Suka-Qimukti. The one that I inherited from my mum and dad is Panik Conteska-Arrluk. And then lastly is Miki Qimmiq Pakak, which I got from a homeless native man." Flint explained. Then smiled, waiting while Hidy processed all that. It doesn't matter to me what she chooses to call me. Flint thought with a grin, watching the big dog.

Hidy smiled. "What would you like me to call you?" The tree kept it from being as hot, she stopped panting and looked at the river, it was to deep and fast to swim, but it looked icy cold. She told herself she wouldn't be able to, but the thought of icy cold water made her want to go in even more. She looked back at the Husky, she wanted to keep her mind off of the river, she knew she would drown if she even attempted to swim. She watched the small dog. Hidy was much taller and thicker than the little husky, she hadn't seen alot of small dogs in here days.

((I don't mean to be a snob, but autumn through spring in Alaska is when EVERYTHING freezes, rivers, lakes, pipes. . . only the ocean doesn't freeze, but if you fell in the water your body would freeze within two seconds and kill you. -shivers- Even on the hottest summer day outdoor water is NEVER pleasantly a bit cold, it's always unbearably cold.))
"Oh, Flint, I guess. The others are difficult to pronounce unless you know how to click your tongue right." Flint smiled with a superior air about her. She was very proud for a pup, even though she hadn't much to be proud of. The only things she was really proud of were her names and her origins. She had been bred by two dogs who's team won the Iditarod. Her father, Arrluk, was the biggest and strongest puller, he could keep the sled moving by himself if he wanted to and his wit was impeccable. Her mother, Conteska wasn't unusually strong, but she was the fastest, nimblest, and by far prettiest dog on the team. Her parents were not in love, and there was nothing extremely naughty or against the rules about their affair. The only reason the bred was because they knew that if they did they'd produce wonderful offspring, and because their owners thought it was also a lovely idea. Flint sighed, wishing she knew where they were. A voice in the back of her head told her that it was impossible for them to just disappear, but a stronger instinct told her they were out there somewhere.

((oh ok, sorry I don't know much about Alaska, although I should have known that))
Hidy smiled. "Then Flint it is." Hidy looked up at the sun, the heat was wondeful. Part of her wanted the snow back though. Hidy's stomach growled. "I think I am going to hunt soon."

((No, it's okay. ^_^))
Flint smiled and nodded, making it official. Then she heard Hidy mention hunting. Flint hadn't exactly been brought up properly for the wild, so she didn't know how to hunt. It was unusual, but sometimes Flint's stronger hunting instincts would kick in and she'd jump on some small unknowing rodent and kill it. Other than that I scavenge. . . or if I'm helpless enough, begging sometimes works. Flint thought. She smiled and nodded, deciding to hide how she got her meals. "Yeah, I had best go hunt, too. So. . . I'll be seeing you, Hidy!" The pup barked, bouncing away a little, she looked back over her shoulder, now both of her odd-eyes smiled back at the big Bernese Mountain dog.

Hidy nodded. "Do you want to hunt with me?" She didn't wait for an answer, she padded forward. She was looking out for rabbits, or anything. She padded on a rock and jumped down. She was good at climbing and pulling things, not so much hunting. Hidy gulped, she was worried she'd go another day without eating. She shook her head and continued into a some-what good looking hunting place, there wasn't much out side. Everything usually stayed in there den, enjoying the warmth of eachother. Or, at least that's what she thought.

Flint watched Hidy move, but let a little sigh escape her throat. No. . . sorry, Hidy. The pup thought. She edged away, looking over her shoulder. "Err. . . gotta go, Hidy. . . bye!" The young husky yelped. She whirled around and dashed through the snow, faster than the few snowshoe hares that were bouncing around.
