The soft salty air blew through the Labrador's fur as he bounded through the surf. He was at the peak of his happiness, as he always was when he was on his way to go see Sakura. It was early morning when he had left his pack to come to this salty, sandy paradise, and he was immensely looking forward to spending another day with the sweet black and white husky. He spotted her on the horizon and pushed himself faster, his long ears flapping every witch direction as the water splashed around his paws. "Sakura!" he called out as he neared her, but unlike him, she was not bounding forwards as she usually did. She was standing still. His huge grin was replaced by a look of confusion. "What's wrong?" he asked, anxiety filling his mind.
He licked her cheek quickly and sat down in front of her, blinking in concern.

Sakura sat silently as she waited for Demitri. She didn't really want to tell him what she was about to tell him, but sooner or later, he would have to find out. Her ears and tail drooped as she gazed solemnly at the sand. When she heard him coming she looked up and her tail tapped slowly. "Nothing's wrong..." she lied. Then she gazed at him. "Actually...." she took a deep breath. "Demitri...I think I'm going to have pups." she waited anxiously for his reaction.

Demitri blinked in surprise, his eyes growing wide. "pups.....?" He asked in wonder.He was suddenly overflowing with pride and joy."Sakura! That's amazing news!" He said as he bounded around in excitement. He was ecstatic with joy. He ran in circles, licked and nuzzled her, and finally plopped down in the sand, completely exhausted. He flashed her a huge grin.

Sakura smiled faintly but she couldn't bring herself to join in the joy of having pups. "But Demetri!" she wailed. "It's fall! The pups will be here in the winter!" Tears fell down her cheeks. She buried her face in his fur. "I'm sorry." she whimpered to no one in particular. As she closed her eyes she remembered when her mother had once had a litter in the winter. 4 pups. One had frozen to death. 2 had starved. And the last one...had been stolen by a hungry fox.
The tears fell anew as she remembered the horror of it all. "Oh Demetri!" she cried.

Her words stunned him. "Winter" He breathed. It was already starting to get cold, and if Sakura had the pups in the winter that could spell disaster. Fear overwhelmed him. "Don't worry..." he said as soothingly as he could manage. The panic was building up inside him, starting to overflow like the rivers in the wet season... " They'll be fine! I won't leave your side...ever. I promise. Even if we're there the whole winter..." He bowed his large head over her's and closed his eyes, hoping, praying that the puppies would live to see the spring...

Sakura's tears began to subside a little at the comforting words of Demetri. She buried her muzzle deeper into his soft brown fur. "Thank you." she whispered to him. "But that's not neccessary, what about our packs?" She looked up at him with mournful eyes.

The packs. Oh that one could definitely be a problem... Him being an alpha especially. He could hardly leave the pack, but if he had pups with a dog from another pack, he would surly get kicked out.He looked at the ground, his huge brown eyes full of concentration...
"We co-" he broke off, sadness over whelming him. "We could leave" he finally finished. He had always known this time would come. The time he would have to choose between his pack, his family, and the one he loved, Sakura.

Sakura's tears began to fall again. "You would do that for me?" she whispered. She buried her muzzle in his fur again. Why was this so difficult? As she felt tiny movement in her belly she smiled. She had a feeling these pups would survive.

"Of course!" he said, running closer to her and licking the top of her head. "I would do any thing for you! You know that!" Suddenly he had an idea. Backing away from her, he went down on his two front paws, in a kind of bow. "Sakura," he said looking up at her," Will you be my mate?"

Sakura smiled at the thought. As he stepped awaqy from her she thingyed her head to one side. "What's wrong?" she asked. Then a smile came across her face and she began laughing. "Of course I will!" she said stepping towards him and slapping his head playfully with her paw.

Demitri grinned. Sakura, his mate. He reared playfully up onto his hind legs, all fear and panic forgotten, as the two dogs romped in the surf. Demitri rolled around and chased Sakura in his happiness.Finally exhausted, he flopped down in the sand panting.

OOC: Sure, I'll start with Sakura collapsing while she was waiting to meet Dem? k?
Sakura smiled and she romped after him. She trotted through the surf with the salty water laping at her legs. Then when she felt the pups moving she yelped at Demetri. "Come here!" she yapped excitedly. "They're moving!" Sakura flopped over on her side so that Demetri could feel them moving.

Demitri ran over at her call, and she plopped down on her side. Carefully, he moved his front paw to rest on her belly. His eyes went wide in wonder as he felt a tiny squiggle and almost jerked his paw away in surprise.He moved his nose up beside his paw. thingying his head, he swore he could hear them... Don't worry puppies! he thought to them, You're in safe hands.... he said as he gazed in pride and wonder at Sakura. He was gonna be a dad!

Sakura smiled and closed her eyes as she felt Demetri feel his puppies. "Oh, you're going to be a great father." she told him with a smile. Then, as she stood up slowly she sighed again. She better be heading back to camp. "Well, until next time?"she said "We'll meet at the railroad." she nuzzled his fur one more time and then turned and loped off with her long tail flowing out behind her.

He watched the beautiful dog lope away, the setting sun glinting off her black and white fur. Sakura, his mate. The words made him smile. He closed his eyes and let the pale light wash over him. This was truly the happiest day of his life. Slowly, he opened his eyes and trotted back towards his camp...
MOVED TO THE RAILROAD!!
